Since I get emails about this at least once a week, I thought it might be a good idea to mention it here as well as on the EarthDance site.
I've been asked many times if there is or is going to be an online version of the EarthDance coursework.
The short answer is: no.
The long-term answer is: yes.
I do plan to offer the course online for those who live outside of the Austin area. However, given that I'm still working out the nature of the trad and the materials for the class, it's going to be a while before anything will be available online. Creating a virtual course is difficult, as it amounts to essentially writing a book--all of the lessons have to be put into a complete and readable form, and a lot more information has to be included than I give in the in-person class handouts.
At the moment I just don't have the time. As to when I will, I won't create false hopes by giving even an approximate date; I honestly have no idea when the online course will be ready. I can tell you it will be at least a year from now. I want to run at least one more full-length in-person course before I even start to tackle the online version, so I'll have my vision for the trad crystallized and the major kinks worked out. Rest assured that it is something I fully intend to do, as soon as I can.
Sorry to be such a slowpoke, but this whole thing is a lot of work, and there's only me to do it; not to mention I have to fit that in with in-person teaching, writing this blog, writing a book, working a full-time job, working with a coven, having some form of social life, and sleeping once in a while. Obviously all of this is what I choose to do, but I also choose to do it according to a sane timetable which may not please everyone.
Thank the gods I don't have children.
As one who is building a path absolutely from scratch (it is not a Wiccan path, I have never been initiated into any other Tradition) I can tell you it IS a lot of work! I really enjoy it though. If I ever start actually teaching my path (right now it's just me) it's going to be a whole new set of challenges. I hope I'm up to it.
