Tonight, a week away from beginning my fourth decade of this Earthwalk, I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude.
For the guiding Hand of my Goddess,
For the spark of wit and power in the gaze of my God,
For the love of my friends,
For the endless blue of the sky,
For the beauty of a life unfolding,
For a sudden downpour on a Saturday afternoon,
For pain that becomes wisdom,
For the precious threads of grace that have woven this world,
For the potential within each and every human being,
For those who have realized that potential,
For those who are on the way,
For years gone by and years to come,
For the smell of cookies baking,
For Mother's Cafe reopening,
For song,
For silence,
For broccoli,
For my four-footed cousins and two-winged kin,
For Buffy the Vampire Slayer,
For the rough bark of oak trees and their sleepy voices,
For the breath of the sacred whispering across my skin,
For the sweat of fevered lovemaking,
For the first hot shower after a camping trip,
For the smell of my cat's fur,
For Brian Froud,
For Kiss My Face Chinese Botanical moisturizer,
For the color of my eyes,
For Rumi,
For Peace Pilgrim,
For Bea Arthur,
For the distant howl of a coyote,
For the great Web of starlight that enfolds the universe,
For the color red,
For my mother and my Mother,
For sudden flashes of understanding that change everything,
For things that never change,
For Neil Gaiman,
For S1ren,
For cookbooks,
For the endless embrace of the Earth,
For fuzzy sweaters,
For possibility and probability,
For magic,
For love,
For you.
Thank you.
I'll be back in a few days.
Excellent litany!
Happy Birthday.

"For pain that becomes wisdom,"
