This meme was stolen quite cheerfully from Joanna Powell Colbert, who brought it over from Facebook, a land to which I dare not venture.
Here are 25 interesting (and not so interesting) things about me. I've been working on this list for days.
Regular posting will resume...soon. I think. No, really.
~ I have a terrible weakness for terrible pop songs. If you peek in my iTunes library you'll see frightening things sandwiched among the electronica and piano-driven feministas...things like Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, and JoJo. What can I say? I love anything I can sing and dance to regardless of its "quality" according to the "cool people."
~ I saw Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves in theaters seven times.
~ My favorite 80s movie is Dirty Dancing. Patrick Swayze's hips? I'd buy a ticket on that ride.
~ I think the most attractive part of the human body is the lower lip.
~ I know all the words to Kanye West's "Golddigger."
~ I hate classic literature. I don't even really like to read Shakespeare, although I do love seeing his work performed (that's what it was meant for, not to be analyzed to death in English class). This includes Tolkien.
~ I have a much easier time writing romance between two men than between a man and a woman, or between two women. I have a strong belief that in my previous life I was a gay man; I have several reasons to think this which I won't go into. But if I am instantly attracted to a man there's a 70% certainty he's gay.
~ I was a National Merit Scholar, which meant I scored very high on the PSAT. But when I actually took the SAT two years later, I only got a 1460 because the night before I was up late writing porn. (Neither of these statistics mean a damn thing now, but I think it's a funny story.)
~ My college majors, before I flunked out, were as follows: anthropology, geology (with a focus on paleontology), sociology, psychology, and social work.
~ I wear fairly standard cotton panties, but I refuse to buy white. My favorites are blue with little Scotty dogs all over them.
~ As set forth in the "Humpty Dance," I did in fact once get busy in a Burger King bathroom.
~ I always pinch the ends off of bananas before I eat them. I have no idea why.
~ I lived in the same house from the time I was adopted (age 2) until I went to college.
~ When I was a child I used to talk to the puddle of sunlight on my bedroom floor.
~ I am phobic of talking on the telephone. Seriously. If you need to find me, email or text. I only speak to one person on the phone: my mom.
~ I was born in the Year of the Snake.
~ In my house the toilet paper flap goes UNDER the roll. Anything else is anathema.
~ I have excellent penmanship and am a fantastic speller. As such people are always asking me to label and edit things. This pleases me.
~ I have absolutely no idea if I’ll ever write another book or teach another class.
~ There are currently 2,276 songs, 4 movies, and 8 assorted episodes of Doctor Who and Bones on my iPod. As soon as I’m through the first three seasons on DVD there will probably be episodes of season 4 of Supernatural on my iPod as well.
~ My favorite thing about 2008 was discovering Twitter. I’ve had so much fun with it so far. Finally there’s a place for my random-ass comments!
~ I do not like rice.
~ I kick ass at Wii boxing. I suspect repressed anger is a factor. Luckily I know how to throw a punch thanks to Nia.
~ I love the way my cats smell.
~ I drive a 2006 Pontiac Vibe named Nani. “Nani” is Hawaiian for “beautiful” but of course it also brings to mind “punani,” which is basically Hawaiian for “beautiful flower.” (I love the Hawaiian language) I am well aware of the humor in driving a car whose model shares its name with a sex toy and whose name is similar to a euphemism for female genitalia. It tickles me.
You and your backwards toilet paper rolls. ;)

I had to look up the word anathema. I love learning new words and this one is great, I plan on using it several times today while I shovel the foot and a half of snow that is on my back step and blocking my path to the woodshed.
