I haven't watched Drop Dead Diva as I don't have cable, but I've heard mixed reviews. I like the idea of anything with Margaret Cho, though.
got to love Kate Harding - she says a little more on her blog today (with the marvelous subtitle of "OMGWTFBBW") at http://kateharding.net/2009/07/28/fatty-tv/

Just a note about "Drop Dead Diva". As I was channel surfing in desperation of something to watch during the summer TV wastelands, I stumbled upon the pilot of this show and I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised.
Now, I will freely admit that I don't think I have ever watched anything on Lifetime because, well because I find the over-drama and trauma of most of their stories disempowering. But, I found "Drop Dead Diva" to be just the opposite. It was smart, funny and had as positive message about women and learning to step into their own power, whatever that may look like to them.
I am now a fan and have enjoyed all three episodes to date. I've even added to the DVR recording schedule.
So if you are leary about Lifetime TV, I say go ahead and give this one a whirl, I think you might be pleasantly surprised.
